Serie A

It’s a tough game in the Italian Serie A at the San Siro on Sunday evening when AC Milan take on Napoli. Milan are currently 3rd on the Serie A table while Napoli top the standings. Both teams are currently unbeaten with records of 4 wins, 2 draws and 0 losses each, having a total of 14 points. In another game at the Stadio Olimpico, 5th placed Roma take on 2nd placed Atalanta in a clash that premieres just before the San Siro spectacle.

The Serie A champions, AC Milan face another fellow challenger in Napoli in a continuing bid to retain their crown. It will be a tricky tie for the hosts since Napoli top the table having scored a total of 13 goals in their six games so far this season, and have been very impressive in all their performances this season. AC Milan will be depending on the brilliance of Rafael Leao to help them overcome the daunting task up ahead, while also having the opportunity to feature French forward Olivier Giroud. Rafael Leao has notched up 3 goals and 3 assists in 6 appearances in the Serie A so far.

Napoli also has a talent that spells disaster for opposition defenders, Khvicha Kvaratskheila, and he has been earning plaudits from football experts and fans alike across the entire continent. The Georgian international has been in excellent at the start of the season with a return of 4 goals and 2 assists in the league so far this season, and was very integral in Napoli’s convincing 4-1 defeat of Liverpool in the opening match of their Champions League campaign. He has flared up the pitch every time he’s stepped on it and more of the same can be expected of him going into this clash. Both these youngsters (Leao & Kvaratskheila) have played a very vital part in their respective teams’ unbeaten run so far this season and you can expect for them to show up in this upcoming fixture once more. It is going to be a very close match between these two Italian heavyweights, but I am backing Napoli to come out on top if it does not end in a draw.

At the Stadio Olimpico, Jose Mourinho’s men will be looking to solidify their 2022/23 season ambitions when they take on Atalanta. Atalanta are currently 2nd on the Serie A log with a total of 14 points from 6 games, while Roma are 5th with 13 points accumulated in the same number of games. Atalanta failed to qualify for European football this season having previously featured in 3 consecutive Champions League campaigns. They are undefeated this season and face their first real test in the form of Roma who have only registered 1 loss in the Serie A this season (4-0 defeat to Udinese). Amongst the Roma line up will be former Juventus number 10, Paulo Dybala who joined from Juventus on a free transfer after his contracts with the Turin club expired and he opted not to renew. He has been able to help his team’s cause with a return of 3 goals and 2 assists in 6 games this season and he will need to be in top form if Roma want to stand a chance against Atalanta who have no real singular threat, but can hurt anybody when they are working as a unit. It is also a close one to call but a Atalanta victory can be expected.
