Crystal Palace overcame Brighton in the absence of South African Percy Tau

Crystal Palace mug Brighton with two goals from two shots as Christian Benteke nicks it at death

Crystal Palace had three shots, and took home three points. Brighton had 25 shots, and left with nothing but anguish. How to describe a match like that? How to explain that the team that had all of the ball, all of the ideas and all of the chances not only failed to win, but somehow failed to even draw?

These are the questions that will burrow deep within the minds of Brighton’s players and supporters, digging away until this result is one day avenged. The pain of defeat will not fade quickly for anyone of a Brighton persuasion and least of all Graham Potter, who fell back into his seat like a man whose legs had given way when Christian Benteke struck the most unexpected of 95th-minute winners.
