The Los Angeles Lakers will be following their loss against Golden State Warriors with a game against the Los Angeles Clippers, a game that might prove tricky for them with possible absences (injuries). The Lakers could face Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers without the aid of LeBron James (left-foot soreness) or Anthony Davis (lower back tightness), it will be very tough for them in the battle of the City of Angels but a positive they might look at is the availability of Russell Westbrook.
The Clippers will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing early exit in the Finals last season, with their fist game of the 2022/2023 season coming against neighbours LA Lakers. Clippers fans are excited by the return of their team to action and their coach Tyronn Lue even boosting their confidence further saying that the entire roster is “good to go for the game against the Lakers”. If indeed LeBron James and Anthony Davis are injured then a blowout win for the Clippers is to be expected since their rivals will be missing their powerhouse forces.
The Lakers suffered a 123-109 defeat to the Warriors in their opening game of the season, where LeBron, Davis, Westbrook and new addition Patrick Beverly. They were totally outplayed by the Warriors and it was very clear that the ‘Dubs Nation’ were superior in the game, which could be a similar result against the Clippers with the absence of their important players.
On the contrary, Lakers fans are not looking forward to this one with the injury scares that they have. However it is one of the biggest clashes in NBA today and pride is all to play for between these 2 name-sharing franchises, and we are sure in for a big treat. A Clippers victory given the circumstances is well within reason though.
In another game, the 2020/2021 NBA Champions, Milwaukee Bucks will be taking on the Philadelphia 76ers for their first game of the regular season. Giannis Antetokounmpo begins another quest to secure another MVP title and add another NBA Championship ring to his hand, the Greek is always up there with the stats leaders and he should be expected to do so again by beginning with a dominant display against the Sixers. However he might not be a stroll for him after all, since he’ll be having to face big Sixers centre Joel Embiid, and this clash of giants is sure to put on a spectacle for the fans in attendance and watching around the world. The Bucks are well-known for their cohesive teamwork and playing for each other, and are well stacked in each department, they can be expected to come out on top in this clash.
