UEFA Nations League A – Betting Previews

Croatia v Portugal

H: 2.40

D: 2.40

A: 1.00

Portugal’s loss at home to France ended their hopes of qualifying for the finals of the UEFA Nations League and leaves them with nothing to play for in the final game away to Croatia. The hosts meanwhile must win to guarantee that they avoid relegation, with anything less allowing Sweden the opportunity to stay up at their expense. Portugal could rotate their side here after a grueling game against France, knowing that they cannot finish top of Group A3 and with the match far more important from a Croatian perspective, they are expected to outwork Portugal in this game. With home advantage in their favour, a surprise result may be on the cards here so consider Croatia draw no bet.

France v Sweden

H: 0.50

D: 2.80

A: 5.50

France have secured qualification to the UEFA Nations League knockout stages and face Sweden in their final Group A3 match. The visitors must better Croatia’s result against Portugal to qualify for the knockout stages and as such may have no choice but to play less conservatively than they would ideally like to here. This could allow France opportunities to take advantage going forward and despite having nothing to worry about in terms of knockout qualification in this match, the hosts boast an extremely strong squad that even with rotation, should ultimately prove too strong for Sweden here.

Spain v Germany

H: 1.30

D: 2.40

A: 1.80

Top spot in Group A4 will be decided here in Sevilla as second placed Spain, host first placed Germany with just one point separating the two sides heading into this contest. The reverse fixture in Germany saw the two teams play out a 1-1 draw with Spain rescuing a point in second half stoppage time. But, with the hosts needing to win here to overhaul the Germans, Spain will have no choice but to play an expansive game here. Whilst they certainly have the players to hurt Germany, Joachim Low’s side will be expected to create chances on the counter attack and whilst the result could go either way, both teams should find the net as they did in the reverse fixture.

Switzerland v Ukraine

H: 0.60

D: 2.80

A: 4.00

Only victory here will see Switzerland avoid relegation at the expense of their opponents Ukraine. The hosts come into this game with belief after recording an impressive 1-1 draw at home to Spain at the weekend, whilst Ukraine will need to pick themselves up after a 3-1 defeat in Germany. The visitors have lost both their away fixtures in Group A4 and will have to stand up to an expected attacking barrage from Switzerland. However, the hosts have failed to win any of their last seven international fixtures and failure to score early on could see the doubts start to creep into Vladimir Petkovic’s side, with Ukraine perhaps set to take advantage and secure at least a point here to condemn the Swiss to relegation.
